Psychiatric Medication Management

Integrated Prescribing for Mind, Mood, and Function

Psychiatric Medication Management

Thoughtful Prescribing. Integrated Care. Real Results.

At Behavioral Medicine Associates, medication management isn’t a last resort, it’s a tool, thoughtfully applied. As a licensed clinical and prescribing psychologist, Dr. Olga Green provides integrated psychiatric care that includes both therapy and medication management for adults and emerging adults (ages 17–65) in Illinois.

Whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar II disorder, PTSD, ADHD, or chronic insomnia, medication may help regulate brain chemistry and restore emotional balance. Our approach is collaborative, outcome-focused, and personalized to your body, history, and goals. We don’t overprescribe, and we never treat symptoms in isolation.

Psychiatric prescribing is available to Illinois residents only, via in-person or secure telehealth sessions.

FAQ

What is psychiatric medication management?

Medication management involves evaluating, prescribing, and monitoring psychiatric medications as part of a larger treatment plan. It includes:

  • ongoing check-ins to assess progress
  • adjusting doses
  • track labs when needed
  • and make sure medications are helping—not harming.

What should I expect from appointments?

Initial appointments include a full clinical evaluation of your history, symptoms, and goals. Follow-up visits are typically shorter and focus on medication response, side effects, lab results, and treatment updates. All sessions are private, respectful, and tailored to you.

Who would benefit from psychiatric medication management?

Medication management may be helpful if you’re struggling with symptoms that affect your mood, energy, sleep, focus, or overall functioning. It’s especially beneficial for individuals experiencing:

  • Persistent depression or anxiety

  • Mood swings or bipolar symptoms

  • PTSD or trauma-related distress

  • ADHD and attention difficulties

  • Chronic insomnia

  • Emotional overwhelm or burnout

It’s also a good fit for those who haven’t found full relief with therapy alone, or who want a more structured, whole-person approach to managing their mental health.

Who provides the medication management?

Dr. Olga Green is a licensed clinical and prescribing psychologist in Illinois. She holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a postdoctoral master’s in Clinical Psychopharmacology. She provides both therapy and prescribing, offering truly integrated care.

Can I combine this with therapy or neurofeedback?

Yes. In fact, medication often works best when paired with therapy or brain-based treatments. Dr. Green offers coordinated care that integrates all services in one setting, including psychotherapy, lab monitoring, and neurofeedback.

How do you monitor safety?

We use on-site or partnered lab services to monitor physical health markers such as metabolic panels, thyroid, and liver function. Medications are prescribed and adjusted carefully, with regular reviews to ensure they are effective, safe, and well-tolerated.

Do you offer lab testing or help finding the right medication?

Yes. We provide on-site lab testing, including pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing. This helps identify how your body is likely to respond to certain medications, reducing trial and error and improving outcomes. Lab testing is fully integrated into your treatment plan for safety and convenience.

What if I’ve had bad experiences with medication in the past?

That’s completely valid, and more common than you might think. We take time to understand what hasn’t worked for you before, and why. With collaborative planning, gentle adjustments, and tools like genetic testing and lab monitoring, we aim to reduce side effects and avoid repeating past frustrations. You’ll never be pressured into taking medication that doesn’t feel right for you.

Will this be covered by insurance?

For Illinois residents, medication management may be covered depending on your insurance plan. However, Medicare does not currently reimburse for services provided by prescribing psychologists, so private payment is required in those cases. We’re happy to verify coverage and provide a Good Faith Estimate before starting care.

What if I’m already taking medication from another provider?

That’s totally okay. Whether you’re looking for a second opinion, a more integrated approach, or continuity of care, we can help. During your intake, Dr. Green will review your current prescriptions, past experiences, and any concerns you may have. If you choose to continue care with us, we’ll create a personalized plan that honors what’s working and thoughtfully adjusts what isn’t.

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple. Just contact us or fill out our secure appointment request form. We’ll schedule a brief phone consultation to make sure our services are a good fit for your needs. If it feels right, we’ll guide you through the next steps, including your intake appointment, any necessary paperwork, and what to expect during your first session.

No referral is needed, and we’re here to answer any questions you have along the way.
