FAQ
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a structured clinical assessment used to clarify diagnosis, document impairment, or provide expert opinion for legal or administrative use. It may include interviews, testing, and review of medical or legal records.
What should I expect during an evaluation?
All evaluations are conducted by Dr. Olga Green, a licensed clinical and prescribing psychologist with over 17 years of experience.
Each evaluation is thorough, individualized, and conducted with care. Here’s what to expect:
-
Referral & Scope Review – A brief intake or consultation to understand your goals and clarify any specific referral questions.
-
Clinical Interview – A structured interview covering mental health symptoms, history, functioning, and relevant life factors.
-
Testing (if needed) – Standardized psychological or cognitive assessments may be included depending on the evaluation type.
-
Record Review – If applicable, Dr. Green will review relevant medical, psychiatric, or legal documents to inform her opinion.
-
Written Report – A comprehensive report is prepared with diagnostic impressions, clinical rationale, and recommendations.
-
Follow-Up (optional) – For legal or administrative evaluations, additional consultation or clarification may be available upon request.
Evaluations are offered in person for Illinois residents or via telehealth for qualifying cases in Illinois and Florida.

Is a psychological evaluation right for me?
A psychological evaluation may be a good fit if you’re seeking:
-
Clarity about your mental health symptoms or diagnosis
-
Documentation for a disability or VA benefits claim
-
Support for a legal or occupational matter
-
Direction for a treatment plan that hasn’t been working
-
Expert opinion for insurance, attorneys, or administrative reviews
Are evaluations offered via telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth evaluations are available for residents of Illinois and Florida where legally permitted. Some evaluations (e.g., IMEs or certain forensic assessments) may require in-person attendance.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. You may self-refer, or we welcome referrals from attorneys, physicians, advocates, or case managers.
Do you work with attorneys?
Yes. We regularly collaborate with attorneys for civil, employment, and veterans’ claims. Services include chart review, second opinions, rebuttals, and expert documentation. Court testimony is not included.
Are evaluations covered by insurance?
No. Behavioral Medicine Associates is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly, but we can provide superbills (detailed receipts) that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
All payment is due at the time of service.
Can a psychological evaluation support my current mental health treatment?
Yes. A psychological evaluation can enhance your ongoing therapy or medication management by offering diagnostic clarity, identifying missed symptoms, and guiding more targeted care. If you’re not improving with your current treatment—or if you’re wondering whether a different diagnosis or approach might help—an evaluation can provide a clearer roadmap for your provider or care team.
How is an evaluation different from a regular therapy or medication appointment?
An evaluation is a standalone assessment—not ongoing treatment. It’s designed to answer specific questions about diagnosis, functioning, or eligibility for services like disability benefits or legal accommodations. While therapy focuses on emotional support and skill-building, and medication appointments focus on symptom tracking and prescriptions, an evaluation gives you a structured, independent overview of your psychological profile, complete with written documentation.
How do I get started?
We begin with a consultation and evaluation to determine whether an evauluations is a suitable option for your goals. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and learn more about our evaluation services.
